So, the last time I wrote on this blog was to say that the journey had been tough and was now looking forward to getting over the treatment and getting on with life...
Well a good few months have passed well almost 10 months and I have to say that all is good!
I have been having regular check ups and finally in September got over a very big hurdle of my PET/CT Scan, you may ask what that is? Well this is where you go and have a full body scan which looks over everything and anything to see if there is any signs of cancer.
Although, it is not as straight forward as that, I didn't mention that you have a radio-active shot which when its delivered in a lead case you think WTF? then you sit around for about 90 minutes without moving a muscle, this is because its glucose based and they don't want any muscle burn, not even eye movement, ugh! seriously, couldn't even scratch my nose!! and then you go and have your scans for about 40 minutes, strapped to this machine, again can't even touch your nose, let alone scratch it!! in essence they are checking to see if the cancer has returned, developed somewhere else or has got into the lymph system or any main organs.
So a nervy few days leading up to it, and well stressed for a day or so after waiting for the results, which in my case were all clear...now they are two words anyone who has suffered with this dreadful illness wants to hear..yes ALL CLEAR!!
But, I think the whole, make 3 years have a nice dinner, make 5 have a party, make 10 and yes you invite the whole country are key milestones to move forward by, and I am already nearly a year down the line?
Anyway, I know I said I had closed this down, but I felt it was important to add some closure to this whole escapade. I do now look forward, no regrets and live life! that is what is the most important part of this.......don't be afraid of living, enjoy it to the full, because things like this come along and you realise how fragile it can be.
